Moving forward with electric traction

The developments of the Technopolis Moscow Special Economic Zone residents make an important contribution to Moscow's development and the global transition to environmental friendly transport.
ABB provided a station at the Pechatniki site, where anyone can charge their electric cars. Since 2020, 21 electric scooter rental stations for SEZ enterprises have been operating in Alabushevo and Pechatniki. These are just a couple of examples of how the Technopolis Moscow SEZ is developing green transport and related technologies.

In November 2020, SEZ signed a cooperation agreement with the Association for the Development of Electric, Unmanned and Connected Transport and Infrastructure. This document will help to develop the production of electric transport components among SEZ enterprises, and will also help them interact with future customers.

Under the agreement, it will be possible to discuss developments and regulatory and technical documentation, search for investors, as well as support initiatives to submit proposals to government bodies. Cooperation with electric vehicle and unmanned system producers will be of interest to the manufacturers of lithium-ion batteries, synchronous motors, and flying drones.
On the SEZ territory, there already is an enterprise producing batteries for warehouse transport. This is Khranenie Energii (Energy Storage), which manufactures lithium-ion batteries under the ENSOL brand. Such batteries are used for electrically-driven industrial equipment, such as forklifts, stackers, electric pallets, etc.

In 2020, the company increased its exports of storage batteries to 335 m RUB, which is one and a half times more than a year earlier. The company's products are supplied to 13 countries. Now Khranenie Energii already occupies about 30% of the domestic and 2% of the world market for lithium-ion batteries.
Drive Electro will create a complex to produce electric trucks and electric transport components at the Alabushevo site. The project investment will make 375 bn RUB. The area of about 1.2 hectares will be used to build engineering structures, production and office premises. The production of batteries and electric traction sets for electric buses and electric trucks, charging stations, electric vehicles for commercial and municipal purposes will be organized, and also, hydrogen-fueled vehicles will be created. Future production meets the needs of the growing electric transport industry, it is focused on import substitution and providing the industry with domestic components.
AETI contributes to the comprehensive development of electric, unmanned and connected transport, and is aimed at generalizing experience, solving problematic issues, protecting the interests of its participants. It is a member of the working groups to stimulate the development of environmentally friendly transport and infrastructure at the Russian Government, the Skolkovo Innovation Fund, as well as in various regions of the Russian Federation.
Electric transport is conquering the world. According to experts, by 2030, 31% of new cars to be sold and 20% of the global car fleet will be electric. What trends will this bring to our cities?

Charging infrastructure. Today Russia has a significant shortage of electric vehicle charging stations, but the number of those will grow. For example, up to 300 charging stations may appear in Moscow by 2023.

Environmental friendliness. It is the concern for the environment that makes electric transport more and more popular, but the associated infrastructure is also becoming more environmentally friendly. For example, the V2G (vehicle-to-grid) smart charging technology allows not only charging electric vehicles from the public grid, but also returning electricity back.

Smaller electric vehicles. The compact one-passenger city car is easy to park and easy to maneuver, so it will become more popular in metropolitan areas.

Every year, there are new devices to synchronize transport, from navigation&information to entertainment systems. They will become more intelligent and more comfortable.

An electric segway, an electric scooter, an electric wheelchair are the means to avoid traffic jams moving quickly to switch from one mode of public transport to another, or cover a long distance without assistance.

Rental networks. City automatic bike and scooter rental networks have already covered five continents, and the number of sharing companies will only grow.
