KSB is saving energy

Conserving energy and resources is a way to preserve the Earth for posterity, and another key strategy for equipment selection. In this way pumping systems, as one of the main energy consumers, pose a special environmental challenge. KSB, a manufacturer of such equipment, offers its own energy saving concept.
The KsB Fluid Future concept implements the energy-saving potential of a hydraulic system in four stages.

STAGE 1: SYSTEM AUDIT

The KsB sonolyzer mobile app detects if an operating point is within the optimum load range. A more detailed analysis is available if the pump is equipped with an intelligent PumpMeter parameter monitor or if the site has a KsB guard system for remote monitoring. The results will help you take the initial steps to optimize pumping performance.

To analyze the energy efficiency of complex systems, the device for operational data logging system Effizienz service is used. it records the pumps parameters and interaction with the system, assesses the details of operating ranges and performance characteristics. Based on the data
obtained, KsB specialists draw up a protocol with recommendations for optimization.

STAGE 2: CALCULATION

For energy efficient operation, a comprehensive calculation of parameters is required. For this purpose, individual components are adapted to the hydraulic system requirements and coordinated
with each other.

At the calculation stage it is important to select components depending on the unit structure:
pumps, fittings, drives and automation systems. With the perfect interaction of the flow path, motor and automation equipment, as well as pipelines parameterization, energy savings reach 60%!

The highly efficient KSB SuPremE (IE5) synchronous reluctance motor, which can be used for variable speed dry-installed pumps, is of particular environmental importance. It exhibits its best qualities when working at partial loads. It is as energy efficient as permanent magnet synchronous motors, but has undeniable advantages, such as the complete elimination of demagnetization risk, a lower inert mass of the rotor and a higher starting torque, as well as a lower operating temperature. Compared to a permanent magnet synchronous motor, the KSB SuPremE motor is more environmentally friendly. Producing that motor does not require the hard-to-get rare earth metal, the resources of which are limited, and the extraction and disposal of which have a negative impact on the environment.

STAGE 3: COMPETENT COMMISSIONING

Installing a pump is an important step to optimize a system. KSB provides installation supervision, setup and commissioning services, as well as offers various service support programs throughout the entire equipment life cycle. This contributes to a TBR increase and longer troublefree operation.
