GREEN BUSINESS INITIATIVES
In June 2018, Samsung announced plans to move its facilities in the US, Europe and China to renewable energy. Also, the company decided to build 63,000 m2 of solar and geothermal power plants in Korea.
Already in October 2018, the Samsung headquarters in the United States, as well as all the company's enterprises in the country, completely switched to the use of energy from renewable sources. Later, a similar transition took place at the Samsung plant in Slovakia.
The Samsung plant complex in the Kaluga Region has a treatment facility equipped with membrane wastewater treatment (MBR) equipment. This technology based on an innovative membrane bioreactor allows to remove heavy metal particles, reuse treated water for technical needs and significantly reduce drinking water consumption. Also, gas cleaning equipment, dust and gas collection units with carbon filter elements are installed in the plastic production shops.
Treatment plants with a membrane bioreactor occupy four times less space at the site, as compared to conventional water treatment plants of the same capacity.
